Activities and events for Thursday, February 20, 2025, are limited to PCPS district basketball games and athletic or academic team practices. Practices may be held at the school’s discretion from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. All other events are canceled or postponed, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. Parents/guardians must provide transportation for practices. No student will be penalized for missing practice due to unsafe roads, lack of transportation, or a parent/guardian’s decision. Staff and coaches will update families ASAP. Rescheduled dates will be shared once confirmed. Thank you.

Good evening, Out of an abundance of caution and due to low temperatures tonight, additional forecasted snow Thursday morning, and hazardous road conditions in various parts of the division, all Page County Public Schools will be closed Thursday, February 20, 2025. 12-month staff report by noon unless otherwise contacted by your supervisor. Good afternoon PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families, PCPS is closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Forecasts vary on the timing and on the amount of snowfall expected across the division. At this time, no decision has been made regarding school or after-school activities for tomorrow. We are waiting for additional forecast details this evening. However, to help families prepare, we want to inform you that an early dismissal or school closure may be necessary tomorrow (2-19-25). If conditions allow, we will make every effort to hold school for part of the day. However, if the snowfall begins too early, we may need to cancel school entirely for safety reasons. The very low temperatures are also problematic for any precipitation that may fall. While we aim to make weather-related decisions as early as possible the day before an event, that is not always feasible. If we cannot decide by 8:30 PM the night before, we will notify families by 5:30 AM the following morning. Families will receive updates through our phone, email, and text system, the PCPS App, Facebook, local media outlets, and our website. The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate weather-related decisions. The following calendar adjustments to the 2024-2025 Academic Calendar were approved by the School Board on Thursday, February 13, 2025: - Friday, March 14, 2025: changed from an early release day to a full student day. - Wednesday, April 30, 2025: changed from an early release day to a full student day. Digital Awareness Day 5 Power up passwords. Work together with kids to help them come up with complex passwords. Never repeat passwords. Think outside the dictionary. Use phrases and special characters that make passwords hard to guess but easy to remember. Remind kids to keep passwords private and change them regularly. Use privacy settings. Together, go through the settings on all apps to make sure you both know what information your kids are sharing. Especially in the beginning, it's better to share very little.Avoid location tracking. Location-aware apps can be super helpful. But apps that use a device's location to help other people find your kid or offer them ads for nearby businesses should be used with caution. Turn them off if you can. Good afternoon, All PCPS schools will open on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, 2025. 12-month staff report on-time. Please arrive at your bus stop two hours later than usual. Breakfast and lunch will be served. This delay will allow Division staff to evaluate conditions in the morning to determine if there are any impacts from the forecasted ice tonight. If conditions are unsafe for school buses or other factors, such as power outages, arise, we may need to cancel school altogether. Should we need to change the operational status of schools, that decision will be made as early as possible tomorrow morning. Thank you!

Digital Awareness Day 3-- Develop your child’s instincts. Help kids learn to trust their guts so they can suss out creepy, risky, or otherwise unsafe online situations. Playact a few scenarios: What if someone asks to take a conversation private? What if someone asks for your phone number? What if someone invites you to a private chat room? Be aware that some kids (even "good" kids) will explore iffy stuff online out of curiosity. But the minute they feel uncomfortable, they need to shut things down. Skip quizzes. Help kids identify and avoid clickbait, quizzes, special offers, and anything that asks for personal or private information. This helps keep information secure and devices safe.
