LEAVING YOUR MARK
This week, Mrs. Grimsley’s third grade class discussed the importance of embracing and celebrating diversity and uniqueness within their classroom. They learned that although they all may have different abilities, beliefs, likes/dislikes, and physical traits, everyone deserves to be treated with respect and acceptance. Their differences are what set them apart and makes them who they are. Students wrote a journal entry describing themselves and what qualities make them special. Afterwards, students and assisting teachers painted their hands to leave their mark in their classroom. Each day, when they look at their hand prints, they will be reminded of how each of them is different, valued, and important.
