Last week, Page County Public Schools participated in the annual Farm to School Week. Nutritional Services staff prepared breakfasts and lunches using products from Survivor Farm, Burner’s Beef, Purple Mountain Organics, Shenandoah Family Farms, Stony Run Greenhouse, LLC, Thornton River Orchard and Market LLC, Gore’s Meats, and Willow Grove Farm Market.
Nutritional Services staff served such items as overnight blueberry oats, fresh salads, pork fried rice, quarter pound burgers with fresh cheddar cheese, roasted sweet potatoes, and apples that were used for the annual Crunch Heard ‘Round the Commonwealth.
Page County Public Schools would like to thank all of the businesses that contributed to the Farm to School event, which promotes the opportunity for schools, distributors, and growers to work together to increase the amount of locally grown foods in school cafeterias. We appreciate your support.
The Nutritional Services managers and staff deserve a big shout out for their role in making this such a successful event.
